How and why exactly are Lamborghinis so freaking fast? What is the fastest Lamborghini in existence and why are Lamborghinis so fast? Join us as we take a deep dive into some facts about the world’s most famous, and everyone’s favorite, supercar.

    About Lamborghinis

As evidenced by its name, the Lamborghini is a car brand that hails from Italy. Racing has always been popular in Italy which is why fast cars are not an unusual sight in this European country. Italians also pride themselves on making some of the fastest cars with the most eye-catching and beautiful designs in the world, with the Lamborghini as one of the biggest names in the business.

What Makes Lamborghinis Go Really Fast?

Designed for speed, Italians manufacture their cars to go extremely fast. Every part of the Lamborghini has been carefully chosen for maximum, high-speed performance. Every model is made by hand and given utmost attention when it comes to its design, aerodynamics, and, most importantly, the engine.

A big factor of what makes the Lamborghini so luxurious is its aesthetic. However, it’s not just a design choice to make it look more “exotic” compared to a regular car – how it looks and how it is shaped is actually a very big factor in what makes it go really fast.

Aerodynamic elements are integrated throughout the entire vehicle, from the front of the car until the rear, as well as in how the body or shell is formed. Lamborghini designers also take inspiration from planes and rockets and their intrinsic aerodynamic design to create their vehicles.

The shape of the Lamborghini improves air resistance. This way, the car is not hindered by an exterior wind source which can affect its speed. The Lamborghini is also designed to stick to the ground, no matter how fast it goes.

The car is surprisingly lightweight, which contributes to the car’s incredible speed. Not all cars at similar weights are safe to drive at high speeds – these vehicles are prone to toppling over if it’s not well-crafted. This is not the case for the Lamborghini, as every nook and cranny of this car has been designed with speed and stability in mind.

How Fast Does A Lamborghini Go?

It is already a given that the engine contributes to how fast the Lamborghini can go, but just how fast exactly does this vehicle clock in at?

The Lamborghini Aventador, one of the fastest Lamborghini models, can speed up from 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in just 2.9 seconds, and its highest speed is as fast as 217 mph (350 kph).

How can it do that exactly? It’s all thanks to the Lamborghini’s V12 engine. With the 12 cylinder transmission, it allows for shifts faster than any other car, giving it an incomparable reaction time and removing any delay in speed shifting. This mighty powerful car engine can shift in as fast as 50 milliseconds, which is unheard of before the Lamborghini.

While being extremely powerful, the Lamborghini’s engine is tiny and weighs under 520 lbs – that is really light for a car that goes this fast. Thanks to the science behind this engine, this Lamborghini boasts an amazing horsepower of around 700.

What Is The Fastest Lamborghini In The World?

The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the fastest Lamborghini models, mostly because of its powerful V12 engine. However, it is not considered the fastest Lamborghini in the world. The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (weighing only 999 kilograms) is the lightest of all the Lamborghini models and can be considered the fastest Lamborghini in existence.

While it only has a V10 with a horsepower of 570, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento can go from 0-100 kph in just 2.5 seconds – .4 seconds faster than the Lamborghini Aventador. This miniscule but important difference in acceleration is mainly because of the weight difference, which inevitably affects acceleration and reaction time, no matter how powerful the engine may be. The Sesto weighs just over 2,200 lbs, while the Aventador weighs almost 3,500 lbs.

    Fast Facts On Lamborghinis

Now that you know why Lamborghinis go fast, check out some fast facts on this fast car:

    • The first-ever Lamborghinis that were made are actually tractors. These are still being produced today under a different brand, although they originated from the same mother company.
    • Ferruccio Lamborghini, the creator and founder of the Lamborghini, earned the moniker of “the original Tony Stark”. This came from his time as a mechanic for the Italian Air Force and was based on his innate ability to make something out of scraps to keep machines working.
    • Lamborghini models were named after bulls because Ferrucio’s birthday is on April 28, which makes him a Taurus. The brand even toyed with the idea of releasing a Lamborghini Taurus, although it didn’t materialize.
    • The matador Manolete died in a fight with a bull named Islero in 1947. Two decades later, the Lamborghini Islero was born.
    • There is a Lamborghini Museum showcasing the rich history of this car brand, which you can tour virtually.

    Conclusion

While Lamborghinis look extremely handsome and eye-catching, it’s not the only reason that people love this supercar. With unmatched aerodynamics, speed, and weight, the Lamborghini is a well-thought-out speed machine. Do check Road Cartel for more information on cars.
